Team Leader - Tissue Culture (Code: T-26)

 

Job Description

This position encompasses all the responsibilities of a Senior Research Associate/Research Scientist, with additional formal responsibility for supervising a distinct group, and additional technical responsibilities of a very independent nature that require the evaluation of tangible variance factors. This position involves acting as the primary investigator in conducting his/her own experiments and would routinely exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. This person will work closely with peers in Core Services, assay development and research efforts.

Responsibilities in the area of Cell Culture include, but are not limited to:

  • Set-up and maintenance of the HistoRx cell culture facility including the development and deployment of protocols to the appropriate level of regulatory rigor, training and supervision;
  • Maintaining cell lines and cultures, and producing proprietary biologicals for use in our laboratories and our developing product portfolio;
  • Procuring new cell lines and cultures, and their management and documentation to GLP standards;
  • Development of a variety of process and product controls employing the products of cell culture for both internal and commercial applications; and
  • Related contributions in the laboratory as the demands of work flow may require including:
      • Development of tissue staining protocols using the products of cell culture
      • Technical contributions to confidential client projects employing the AQUA ®system
      • Work flow scheduling and first-line supervision of all cell culture support
      • Overall accountability for cell culture activities as a key scientific function.

Education/Experience

Requires a BS/MS and 5-8 years' experience in the development of biological or pharmaceutical products or 2-5 years with a Masters and demonstrated working knowledge of scientific principles. Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices is required.
